I get asked the same questions about my art/photography/design on the daily. I am going to post below the two that are most asked and give you a little insight.
I guess that I thought I would sum it up with all of you that are inspired by photography and or by my work so you can get of feel what needs to be invested. Keep in mind that you don’t need “All” equipment and programs that I use to take great photographs. You don’t even need the most expensive because I can tell you that most of these are not. However, this is what I have accumulated over the years to make my work flow better for ‘Me’.
Every photographer I know uses different combos. It’s basically what you are comfortable with and what is available to you.
FYI: I am a self taught photographer and I can’t stress the importance of your trusty camera manual. Everything you need to know is right there in black and white.
The Two Daily Questions:
- What equipment do you use?
- What editing programs do you use to make your pictures look like that?
Equipment:
- Cameras: Canon 40d, Hassleblad 503CW, Minolta X-700, Canon Digital Rebel original
- Lenses: Canon EFS 17-85mm, Canon EFS 18-55mm, Tamron AF 17-50mm, Quantary AF LD 70-300mm
- Speedlights: Canon 420EX, Canon 580EX
- Studio Lighting: Interfit & Alien Bees
- Reflector: it’s by Savage Products, not sure of the make and model but it can be used as a skim and has 5 different screens (Silver, Gold, Green Screen, Blue Screen and a mix of gold and silver)
- Back Drop Stands: Also made by Savage Products and I have a Porta-Stand and a Wall Stand
- Camera Strap: My Funky Camera (Only the Best)
- The Canon 40d Manual (It has been read front to back more than once)
Post Production:
- iMac Processor-2.8 GHz Intel Core Duo
- Lots and Lots of Memory
- Maxtor external hard drive because we always need to back up!
- Photoshop CS5 & Elements 8
- Adobe Bridge
- Adobe Illustrator
- Aperture & Lightroom “Lightroom is my first choice.”
- Canon Picture Style Editor
- Canon Digital Photo Professional
